What is "Pressure Microphone"?

Pressure Microphone
A microphone in which only one side of the diaphragm is exposed to the sound as the back is a closed chamber. The diaphragm responds solely to pressure, which has no direction. Therefore pressure microphones are omnidirectional.

To avoid the influence of the static air pressure, a small vent secures pressure equalization.

DIRECTIONAL VS. OMNIDIRECTIONAL MICROPHONES

Many engineers are afraid of using omnidirectional microphones in a multi microphone setup with several musicians or sound sources. "Leakage" seems to be the buzzword that is often heard in such situations and, without even trying anything else, directional mics are by habit chosen.
